Why We Love Aspen

‘Tis the season when Aspen is a buzz of activity and our ‘quiet little town’ seemingly becomes a ‘city’.  From the 12 Days of Aspen to The Aspen Art Museum’s 2010 Dennis Basso Freestyle Winter Benefit, Aspen has something to offer every guest, no matter the budget.  And, whether guests are coming to relax or to ski, all agree that there is no place like Aspen.

Cross-Country Skiing

Meander across quiet meadows and through secluded wooden areas, while enjoying the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Trail System which links Aspen and the Snowmass Village.  A more leisurely paced afternoon can be found at the base of the Elk Mountain Range, where the trails wind along Castle Creek and navigate through the Roaring Fork Valley.

Dog Sledding

Located just minutes from Aspen and on the slopes of the Snowmass ski area, indulge in a half-day trip that includes a four-course lunch or twilight dinner.  Driven by thirteen Alaskan sled dogs and an experienced musher, allow these trained huskies to whisk you through the Rocky Mountain’s beautiful backcountry for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Powder Tours

Love Powder?  Take a POWDER TOUR.  Enjoy no lift lines, no crowds, just the exhilaration of skiing some of the Rocky Mountains finest powder snow in a spectacular setting.  Two guides and a driver lead each 12 person snowcat group, selecting terrain according to daily snow conditions and the group’s experience.  Snowboards are welcome on Aspen Mountain Powder Tours.  Fresh tracks are guaranteed and a gourmet lunch is included.

Skiing

As the only ski-in/ski-out property in Aspen, we aim to make your time on the slopes as effortless as possible.  Allow our Ski Concierge Team to handle everything from ski rentals to storing your equipment at the end of an epic day.  With four mountains to choose from and over 1,200 professional instructors from all over the world, Aspen/Snowmass programs offer superb instruction for skiing, snowboarding, children’s lessons and adaptive techniques.

Snowmobiling

A not-to-miss winter activity!  Travel on groomed trails and enjoy the panoramic views of the Maroon Bells, Independence Pass and the historic “ghost town,” or the White River National Forest.  Single or double snowmobiles are available, and no experience is necessary.

Snowshoe Tours

Strap on a pair of snowshoes and explore 80 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails of the Nordic Trail system, or attempt something more daring by traversing the backcountry or a mountaintop ridge.  A guided backcountry tour will provide you the true definition of serenity, while also maintaining your energy with warm drinks and snacks.
