Wedding Inspiration: Western Rehearsal Dinner

One wedding trend we can REALLY get behind is the formal wedding paired with an informal rehearsal dinner. What’s better than rocking heels one night and jeans another? One of our favorite themes in this vein is the Western Rehearsal Dinner. Nothing screams Aspen like some cowboy hats, laid-back fare and bluegrass music.

This rehearsal dinner was held at the base of Aspen Mountain in Gondola Plaza. (The tent was also a weather back-up for the wedding the next day — just in case weather kept the wedding from happening outside on the top of the mountain. The tent also can work triple duty, serving as a location for a brunch the day after the wedding.)

There are a few simple components for pulling off a Western Rehearsal Dinner. You need guests wearing jeans, heavy passed hors d’oeuvres (Colorado cuisine of course) and/or a BBQ buffet, a country-western or bluegrass band and a few decorative elements. It isn’t contrived or corny… just Aspen!

We recommend holding the event as a “drop by” — perfect for guests who are flying in that day.

Thanks for Robin Proctor for these amazing photos. This event was planned by Suzanne Dupre of An Aspen Affair.
