Visit the Sundeck this ski season 2020-2021 to see select images on display from Gray Malin in Aspen, a vintage ski photo series, which was a collaboration between the fine art photographer and The Little Nell that was shot last winter.
When planning the shoot, Gray and The Nell designated a beneficiary for the project, selecting Protect Our Winters (POW), the leading non-profit climate advocacy group for the winter sports community.
Gray committed to donate a portion of the proceeds from each sale from the first year to POW, and now that the one-year mark has been reached, the handsome sum of $49,289.17 has been donated to the non-profit. This certainly makes a major impact on their work while also reflects the positive response from the public to these uplifting images of an Aspen winter getaway.
The playful photos highlight the undeniable glamour of Aspen ski culture with a yesteryear twist, featuring models styled in classic ski wardrobes along with a loveable Bernese Mountain dog and props such as vintage ski equipment, original Goyard and Louis Vuitton trunks, a 1950s Porsche and more.
Prominent Aspen locations in the series include Buckhorn Cabin on Aspen Mountain, Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro on Aspen Highlands and The Little Nell’s porte-cochère.
Nearly thirty images make up this series of snowy adventures and après-ski festivities, defying time and evoking nostalgia for all who love the alpine lifestyle.
