Mid-week Cocktail Fix: Ruby Park

We’re wrapping up our summer cocktail series here at The Little Nell. Every Wednesday we’ve been posting one of our drinks from the Montagna Bar along with a recipe so you can re-create your favorites at home, wow your guests or simply enjoy knowing the mixology secrets of our talented bar staff. Here’s one of our last summer beverages before we switch to cozy warm concoctions by the fire…

Today’s rain and cold temperatures have us feeling a bit odd. On one hand, we’re getting excited for fall/winter and warm beverages by the fire. The impending snow in our mountain village of Aspen. The skiing. But there’s still a part of us that’s hanging onto summer. Summer breezes. Afternoons by the pool. Summer cocktails with fruity tanginess. Dang it, we’re making Ruby Parks today in defiance of this weather! The cold-weather concoctions can wait a bit longer.

Ruby Park

• 1 oz Absolut Ruby Red
• 1 oz Aperol
• 1 oz St. Germain
• 1 oz Grapefruit Juice

Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice.  Shake and strain in to a chilled martini glass.  Garnish with a lemon wheel and mint sprig.

And now for a little backstory:

Aperol is the perfect aperitif. It’s brigh orange and has a bitter-sweet taste that comes from the herbs and roots that are on its ingredient list. And it is low in alcohol (just 11%), making it a perfect mixer as well.

And just in case you didn’t know, Rubey Park is the local bus station here in Aspen, so this drink is a little nod to our landmark here in the heart of downtown.

Happy drinking out there,

The Little Nell Bar Team
