How did you two meet? A huge Colorado Snowstorm brought us together on my birthday in March 2010. Two days before my 31st birthday, my girlfriends were throwing me a party at Riever’s Bar in Denver. Around noon that day it began to snow. It snowed more than 20” in the mountains and more than 9” in Denver that afternoon. My girlfriends and I decided to march in our snow boots over to Rievers anyway and start celebrating. Across the street Shea and his friends had been forced to skip going to their ski condo because I-70 was closed, so they went to Wash Park Tavern for beers and March Madness. Lucky for the both of us, one of his friends was dating one of my friends, and she invited the group of boys over to my party. We met at Reivers later that night and after a couple birthday tequila shots, Shea asked for my number. Thank goodness for snowstorms!

Care to share the engagement story? Shea moved to a suburb of San Francisco a year after we met. Between Christmas and New Year’s, I came to visit.  On Tuesday, December 27th, Shea came home from work and asked me to be his wife. A few minutes later a limo showed up at the house. We took a moonlit ride over the Bay Bridge into the city for champagne at the Top of the Mark… then over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sam’s in Tiberon for a memorial tequila shot!

Why did you choose Aspen/The Little Nell for your wedding? While we dated we spent many weekends in the Aspen area. We wanted our friends and family to experience the town and be able to run into each other while enjoying the beautiful fall colors. We did have to warn everyone to look out for bears, and many guests saw brown bears around town! There is nothing that compares to the view from the wedding deck, and our pastor spoke about the spirituality of the mountain top which we could feel from the first time Shawna (events manager at The Little Nell) took us up.

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding? After the reception we took the gondola down the mountain. It was a detail that I hadn’t thought about before it happened. It was just the two of us leaving the reception with our friends all cheering, and then we got into the cab and had 16 minutes all to ourselves. As mentioned, the weather was perfect, so the night sky was pitch black with a million stars and it was absolutely silent. My new husband and I sat together awestruck from the day and soaking up the landscape.

What’s your favorite thing to do in town (your perfect Aspen day, if you will)?  I love walking from the hotel to Ink and sitting outside with my friends for breakfast, then walking around the farmer’s market and having lunch at Cantina.
