Silver Spork Social Dinner in Denver

On Dec. 12, diners gathered in downtown Denver for the latest edition of Silver Spork Social, a secret supper club created by a gentleman named Paul Laurie with his partner in crime, Kim Genung, that brings together chefs, bartenders and musicians for a one-night-only event. As Laurie explains, “Silver Spork is not a speakeasy, restaurant or bar, but rather a place where each session, a new bartender, chef, and musician work together to create a completely original experience each time.”

Element 47 at The Little Nell traveled to the Front Range for the Dec. 12 event, preparing a five-course meal, which is revealed below. Guests were asked to wear “inspired and elegant attire. We wear many hats. So should you,” noted Laurie. . All 40 guests met at an address downtown and then led to a warehouse for the extravagant affair. They found their way to the king’s table where they were given a place setting comprising a silver spork, water and wine glasses and plate and napkin. The family style meal encourages interacting with one another and as host, Laurie reminds one and all to “make five new friends” and enjoy oneself. Partway through the dinner, all play musical chairs, bringing their spork and glassware and finding new neighbors with whom new discussions can begin.

Chefs Matt Zubrod, Matt Padilla and Keith Theodore from The Nell had as much fun as the guests, if not more, and vowed to return to Denver for another collaboration in 2016.
