Wedding of the Month ~ Chad and Rosie

Ah, a fall wedding in Aspen. Is there anything better? Yellow leaves. Crisp but still-warm temps. Town buzzing with activity from hiking to biking to dining. Add to that a sweet couple that’s as down-to-earth and adorable as can be.  We think we’re in love…

Here’s the story of Rosie and Chad Bellville.

How did you two meet?

Chad and I met in Denver at the iconic Grizzly Rose, a country western dance hall. He says we met at a “concert,” while I say we met at a “bar.”

When did you know you had found the person you were going to marry?

I knew I was on the right path when Chad didn’t wait three days to call but called that evening to be sure I got home safely. A couple of months into our relationship I left the US to spend a month in Africa, and while I was there, Chad moved from Denver to his home in Michigan. It was an obvious place to end our relationship, but upon returning to the US, it was clear that we both wanted to make our long distance relationship work. We took turns getting on airplanes, and we created lots of fun memories with exciting trips and new experiences every two weeks.

What led you to choose Aspen/The Little Nell as your wedding venue?

I had grown up on Durant Street in Aspen, and of course, The Little Nell has always been my favorite hotel. If given all the options in the world, The Little Nell would have been our #1 choice of place to be married. We considered many Colorado mountain options from guest ranches to amphitheatres as our guest list and budget also influenced our location. Also, 90 of our guests came from out of town, so we wanted to provide an authentic Colorado experience for those who’d never been to Aspen… one they would never forget.

Aspen was the greatest destination because it was so easy and accessible for guests after they got to town. Once at their hotel, our guests could walk around town, borrow beach cruisers from The Little Nell and The Limelight to explore the Rio Grande Trail, or ride the RFTA buses  for our group hike to Crater Lake.

Between Mother Nature and the incredible hospitality and customer service of The Little Nell, I know our guests left with memories to last a lifetime. The mountain ranges around Aspen could not have been more gorgeous… rivers of yellow leaves were everywhere you looked. Our guests took the gondola up to the Wedding Deck where their greatest expectations were surpassed by the incredible beauty and the intimate ceremony set up by The Little Nell. If we had asked God to create a more perfect day, nothing could have been improved.

The Little Nell accommodated every last request with ease and grace. They kept our budget in careful consideration when recommending entrée and wine selections and helped us gear every detail towards an “Authentic Colorado” weekend. Our food and service all weekend long were extraordinary, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. To no surprise, the hospitality found at The Little Nell is unmatched, and it was very comforting to be in such capable hands in the midst of our very special, yet hectic, wedding weekend.

What was your favorite moment of your wedding?

It’s hard to think of a favorite moment, but if forced to narrow it down, there would be two. The first would be the incredible views and weather we experienced for our ceremony. As a native Coloradoan, 73 degrees and blazing sun on October 2 seemed too good to be true… I almost don’t believe it still. Our second favorite moment was walking into Montagna and feeling like we were hosting our family in our own living room, everything was so intimate, elegant and very cozy.

Would you change anything about your wedding?

If given all the money in the world, we would not have changed a single thing.

Was your wedding indicative of you two as a couple? How so?

Chad and I are both adventurous people who love experiences in the outdoors. Given our love for the Colorado mountains, our ceremony setting was the perfect fit. It was so cool, hearing our guests rave about the ride in the gondola. Feeling especially close to God on that mountain we were married by our good friend, which were two very special elements from our wedding.

What was your favorite “bite” at the wedding?

Hmmmmm… That’s a tough one. Chad LOVED the Elk Lollipops, while I was crazy about the Truffle Mac ‘n Cheese. We both raved about our entrees. I don’t think a bad dish comes out of the Montagna kitchen.

Who were your vendors?

The Little Nell Wedding Deck atop Aspen Mountain was our venue, with our reception at Montagna Restaurant at The Little Nell.

Marianne Martin from Real Life Portraits in Boulder was our photographer. She did a great job!

Cliff from RT Hawk Photo Studios was our videographer. We just watched the video and found a special surprise of several private toasts secretly recorded during the reception. It was so special!

DJ Dylan from Platinum Productions got the party dancing the night away.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Our guests have requested that we all rekindle at The Little Nell for our first anniversary. Everyone MUST have had an extraordinary time… I know we did!
