Wedding of the Month: Bachmeier~Hirst Wedding

Sarah and Mat held their wedding atop Aspen Mountain on September 12, 2010, with 50 of their closest friends and family in attendance. This elegant affair involved seasonal food, rustic touches and lots of dancing.

How did you choose your wedding location?

The moment I stepped off the gondola.  I loved both the rustic feeling and elegance that The Little Nell offered.  Once I saw the ceremony site and the incredible view behind it, I knew it was were I was going to get married.

Best Wedding Bite…

Everything I ate was amazing! Nearly every wedding guest I talked to said it was the best meal they’d ever had.  My personal favorite was the butternut squash soup with roasted marshmallow.

Most Memorable Moment…

The entire day was filled with so many incredible moments that I will cherish forever.  A few of my most memorable were: getting ready with my closest friends and family in the Wine Cellar of the Aspen Mountain Club; walking down the aisle and seeing the breathtaking view of both the mountains in the background and the people that I loved most in the world (including my husband); and sharing one of the best meals I’ve had with all of my favorite people in the world, then dancing the night away.

Another favorite moment was riding down the gondola after the ceremony and dinner with our photographer (Becca Spears) and her husband, who are dear friends of ours.  It was right as the sun was setting, and it was probably one of the most present moments of my whole day.  It gave me a chance to take it all in and really enjoy the beauty of all that surrounded me.

I really loved every moment of my wedding day, and The Little Nell was the perfect spot to foster the intimate and rustic feel I wanted my wedding to have.

Aspen Bride Advice…

Do your research.  Aspen is such an incredible place, and I’m so glad I took the time to talk with the locals (including staff from The Little Nell) to find the best spots to eat, drink and enjoy all that Aspen has to offer.  Also, I would recommend the fall season as a perfectly beautiful time of year to get married.  The weather is still great, and the changing leaves on the Aspen trees are majestic.
