Wedding of the Month: Avila ~ Bridges Wedding

When a bit of bad weather decided to show up on May 14, 2011, Aspenite Nury Avila didn’t let it destroy her wedding day… Previous plans to host the ceremony on The Little Nell’s courtyard were dashed by Mother Nature, but luckily there was a back-up plan. Wedding organizers quickly moved the ceremony into the property’s intimate “Wine Room,” and plans for the day moved forward without a hitch. Well, except for the “getting hitched” part.

The couple, who met in June of 2007, celebrated their marriage with 60 of their closest friends and family. They dined in The Little Nell’s Montagna Restaurant and used the hotel’s Terrace Bar for a cocktail reception and lots of dancing.

Items like lobster ceviche tacos and mini buffalo cheeseburgers with green chile gave the event a fiesta atmosphere, along with a lively mariachi band and fun wedding favors. “All the food from the hors d’oeuvres to the cake and coffee were really amazing,” Nury said. “We cannot pick a favorite food item. It was all so delicious!”

Nury’s favorite moment of the day was when she and her husband exchanged vows. Nury, when asked to describe him in three words said, “Amazing, loving and handsome.”

“It was one of the most amazing and memorable days of our lives,” Nury said. “The banquet and hotel staff went way beyond our expectations, and the expectations of our guests. We wouldn’t change a thing.”
