We’ve started a new tradition this summer at The Little Nell. Every Wednesday we’re posting one of our summer cocktails from the Montagna Bar along with a recipe so you can re-create your favorites at home, wow your guests or simply enjoy knowing the mixology secrets of our talented bar staff.
Montagna Manager Joey Kern also has some fun stories and tips to offer with each concoction, so go ahead and have that extra drink. You know how to make it now! This week, get lost with the vacation-inspiring, rum goodness of the Last Mango in Paris.
Last Mango in Paris
• 2 oz Mango/Cilantro Infused Flor de Cana Rum
• Juice of fresh lime
• ½ oz Simple Syrup
• ¾ oz Canton Ginger Liqueur
• ¼ oz Egg White
Combine ingredients into a mixing glass and shake vigorously. Add ice and shake again. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 1 piece of candied ginger and 1 sprig of cilantro.
Fun fact: Last Mango in Paris is the 15th studio album by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was released in June of 1985 and was produced by Buffett and noted country music producer Tony Brown. The album represented a continuation of Buffett’s shift toward a more “country sound.” The title of the album is a play on the title of the 1972 movie Last Tango in Paris.
Flor de Caña Extra Dry White – The smell of this rum is pleasant with a bit of sweetness and a decent amount of molasses, along with some dry fruit. It also has a touch of alcohol! An initial sip is good at first, but then the alcohol taste hits. A larger sip shows a larger taste of alcohol, but this really packs a lot of proper tastes, is quite smooth and really it isn’t bad at all. It’s much better than the initial sip would have one believe, but there’s no doubt that this is a mixing rum and not a sipper.
