Connect the Dots in Aspen – May 5

Here’s info on a really cool event the Aspen Skiing Company is working on with 350.org on Saturday, May 5, including screening of James Balog’s film “Chasing Ice” at the Belly Up, speakers, kids’ activities, educational booths, live music, drink specials at Ajax Tavern and the world’s toughest ski race! Dear friends,

Next Saturday, something big is happening in Aspenthat you won’t want to miss. Around the world, thousands of people are gathering for Climate Impacts Day, to highlight the connections between our changing climate and changing weather patterns already impacting our communities. Join us as we connect the dots to protect our winters and save our snow!

What: Connect the Dots in Aspen
When: Saturday, May 5th, 2012
2:00-5:00 PM Activities, speakers and photos at Gondola Plaza
5:00-7:00 PM “Chasing Ice” film screening, followed by music at Belly Up
Where: Aspen, CO, at the base of AspenMt.

• The Climate Challenge Snowless Ski Race – “The toughest ski race in the world!”
• Climate Impacts Photography Contest and Gallery
• Kids’ Activities – Arts, Crafts, Bounce House, Farm Animals and More
• Free Snow Cones
• Inspirational Speakers & Live Music
• Food and drink specials at Ajax Tavern ($6 margs, $6 wine, $3 beer)
• Educational Booths

Climate change is having extreme effects on Colorado’s high mountain communities — from pine beetle infestations and wildfires to negative impacts on our ski and tourism industries. Let’s highlight these impacts and call for action!
